1. International Criminal Court Trial Competition (Chn)
Ø Competition Information
· What is ICCTC (Chn)?
The International Criminal Court Trial Competition in Chinese (ICCTC) is part of a series of competitions featuring international criminal law co-organized by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and various local partners (legal institutes/law schools) around the world. All of ICC's six official languages (English, French, Chinese, Arabic and Russian) are used in these competitions, depending on the venues of each competition. In China, ICCTC is conducted in Chinese.
· Competition Format
To be qualified for the international round held in Hague in May/June every year, participants from every country has to prevail in their respective jurisdiction. The national round hosted by individual member country will generally consist of both written memorial and oral presentation.
The international round, however, will only contain oral round, in which participating teams have to plead in each role of the Prosecutor’s Counsel, the Victims' Counsel, and the Defense Counsel, separately. The oral presentation will be conducted by each team in their native language; simultaneous interpretations will be provided for assistance.
Ø PKU Law School and ICCTC
In 2007, the first Chinese ICCTC was co-held by China University of Political Science and Law and ICC. It was held again in 2012, participated by law students from 17 different universities and 6 teams were admitted to the international round.
On its first participation in 2012, PKU ICCTC Team won the first-class award and successfully advanced into the international round. PANG Xu '14 LLB, claimed the award for Best Oralist (representing Prosecutor’s Counsel). In the international round, PKU ICCTC Team placed the 3rd globally.

2. International Criminal Court Trial Competition (Eng)

· What is ICCTC (Eng)?
Supported by International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Criminal Court Trial Competition (ICCTC) is developed by the International Criminal Law Network as part of the effort to promote the awareness of the horrid crimes against humanity.
While there exist a number of established moot court competitions, the ICCTC is unique in its direct focus on ICC proceedings and international criminal law. Since its inception, ICCTC has been gaining popularity at a fast pace, attracting a number of laws schools across the world to participate each year. The ICCTC is conducted in English in its entirety and judged by highly-recognized experts in the area.
By participating ICCTC, law students enjoy a precious opportunity to visit an array of international organization in Hague, as well as making friends who share the same interest in international criminal law.
· Competition Format
ICCTC features two (2) consecutive phases, with each independently graded: a written round (Memorials) and an oral round (Hearings). After the first oral round (Main-Round), a Semi-Final Round and a Final Round will take place.
Each team shall address the case in the roles of the Defense Counsel, Counsel for the Prosecution, and the Common Legal Representative for Victims (Victims' Counsel), in both written round (one Memorial per role) and oral round (one oral pleading per role). ICCTC problem will be released in November every year and three Memorials (representing each role) have to be submitted in February next year. The oral rounds take place in the following April.
Ø PKU Law School and ICCTC
Before PKU ICCTC Team's participation in 2012, Tsinghua University Law School was the only participating party from mainland China. PKU ICCTC Team made its presence in 2012 for the first time. We anticipate a more active involvement in this competition in the future.
