Ø Competition Information
· What is IHL?
The Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot (IHL) is a well-known and prestigious inter-university competition in the field of international humanitarian law. Since its introduction to China in 2007, IHL has proven to be a great attraction to law students, and contributed greatly towards the raise of concerns over humanitarian issues and the understanding of IHL.
· Competition Format
The IHL competition is conducted completely in English. Every year, the oral pleading of IHL is judged by international humanitarian law experts across the globe, while the IHL problem is authored by professionals from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Participants in IHL have to compete in their respective national rounds before advancing into the international round held in Hong Kong. Written memorandum and oral presentation are required in the national round of China, which generally will be held in Beijing, with participating teams coming from first-tier law schools like Peking University law school, Tsinghua University Law School, Law School of China University of Political Science and Law and Xiamen University law school.

In 2011, PKU IHL Team placed 4th in the national round of China with Best Momerial for Prosecutor. Strongly supported by the Law School, the IHL Team is improving on a steady pace and is expecting better performance in the near future.
Ø Application and Selection Procedure
Every year, PKU IHL Team holds an open recruitments procedure to select qualified participants and assistants under the supervision of Law School's Youth League Committee and with the assistance of the Mooting Camp.
The selection procedure may include CV/Resume screening, interview and written test. Once selected, new IHL members will receive a series of professional trainings from our coaches on a wide range of subjects that aim to enhance their skills relating to legal research, memorandum drafting and oral pleading.
